FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
You can purchase either unmounted (ready-to-frame) prints or mounted (ready-to-hang) prints. Ready-to-hang prints use a modern (“standout”) format – they’re mounted on 3/4″ deep lightweight foam with black edging, with pre-created holes on the backside, so they are ready to hang upon arrival. Here’s an example:
Both unmounted and mounted prints are available in 4 sizes: small, medium, large, and jumbo, with the exact size depending on the aspect ratio of the photograph. The various sizes and prices are as follows:
Size | Dimensions | Price (unmounted) | Price (mounted) |
---|---|---|---|
Small | Either 8″ x 10″ or 8″ x 12″, depending on the photo | $14.95 | $39.95 |
Medium | Either 11″ x 14″ or 12″ x 18″, depending on the photo | $24.95 | $59.95 |
Large | Either 16″ x 20″ or 16″ x 24″, depending on the photo | $49.95 | $99.95 |
Jumbo | Either 20″ x 24″ or 20″ x 30″ depending on the photo | $99.95 | $174.95 |
It’s not possible to order prints from more than one exhibit at the same time, as each exhibit uses a separate shopping cart for prints. That’s a shame (it can be inconvenient and error prone), but it’s a consequence of the e-commerce back end we use for order processing and fulfillment. Sorry! On the other hand, all book orders use the same shopping cart – the one for the main exhibit (Farewell Eighteenth Street Lounge) – so any or all of them can be ordered at the bookstore.
Click on and any thumbnail image within the exhibit gallery. If you’re on a desktop computer, click Buy or the shopping cart icon in the lower right corner of the sidebar options. On small screens, such as mobile devices, this option may not be immediately available. Click the << symbol in the upper right corner of the screen to toggle to the sidebar options.
Prints usually ship in 3 days, but deliveries are uncertain because of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially during the holiday season. In our experience, economy shipping presently is the least reliable method.
Our print vendor advises the following cutoff dates for orders to arrive by 24 December:
- Economy: December 5
- 3 Day: December 13
- 2 Day: December 14
- Next Day: December 15
- International: No guarantee
Easy, go to the bookstore, click on the book you want and go from there. And, yes, discounts are available for quantities greater than 10. For more information, please contact us with a specific request.
Books normally ship in 5-7 business days. Arrival dates depend on the shipping method and are computed (by the print vendor) from the 7-day point – e.g., 2-day shipping means that the book normally will arrive no later than 9 business days after ordering. All shipping methods are trackable.
Owing to the pandemic, these “normal” delivery times are particularly uncertain during the holiday season, so please take that into account. Our book-printing vendor advises the following cutoff dates for your order if you want it to arrive by 24 December:
- Standard: December 7
- Express: December 15
- Priority: December 15

Yes, by special order. Many sizes are available. Format options include framed prints, canvas prints, canvas gallery wraps, metal prints (mounted), etc. Please contact us with a specific request.
No, not on the prints! We use the (c) watermark on this site as a gentle reminder that the photos are copyrighted and were donated solely for our use in selling high-quality prints to raise funds for our nonprofit partners. Please be fair to the photographers – don’t use their photos in any way without permission.
Yes. It’s an option during the checkout process.
Yes, but not as a surprise. Unfortunately, our e-commerce platform doesn’t support gift messages. Of course you can send books to anyone you like (via the shipping address), but they won’t know it’s a gift unless you tell them.
Not at this time. But we might in the future if there’s sufficient demand, so please contact us with details if you’re interested.
Yes. Owing to our fiscal sponsorship from the Greater Washington Community Foundation, Fund by Photo is a 501(c)(3) organization for income tax purposes. You will receive an email from the Foundation stating how much of your purchase is tax-deductible. In the case of pure donations, 100% of the amount is tax deductible.
Yes. We hope there’s a print that you’ll want to have, if not a book. But if you enjoyed viewing the show, want to applaud the artists and to support our nonprofit partners, yet aren’t interested in receiving a print or book, you can just make a donation.
We are grateful to all of the artists for the opportunity to photograph them, and for the support of Fund by Photo that many of them have expressed. We want to make it clear, however, that – except in cases where we quote them explicitly – none of the artists mentioned or shown in photographs on this site endorse Fund by Photo or its nonprofit partners.
The photographers and graphcs artists, who have all generously donated their works to Fund by Photo our use in fundraising. For all other uses, please contact the photographer or graphic artist.
Yes we do! Our team particularly needs more expertise in earned media, social media, press relations, and related disciplines. (It’s one thing to publish what we hope are worthy photo exhibits, but it’s quite another to attract and bring in viewers!) If you’re interested, please contact us with some information about your background, how you’d like to help, and how much time you might be able to contribute.

MISS LIVE MUSIC? LOVE GIVING BACK?
Buy a book or an archival-quality, mounted or unmounted print and we donate 100% of the net proceeds to charity. You’ll help support people who have been disproportionately hurt by the same pandemic that decimated the music scene.
